What's crazy is that testicles do have taste receptors, and that the taste receptors play an active role in fertility and sperm production.

Which explains why soy sauce is salty.

Is it necessary to unwrap them first?

I think any man who has used a certain brand of extremely minty shower gel can confirm the strange sensations you can get down there from it. Although I wouldn't call it taste...

I think that might be more the tea tree oil than the mint, mind.

You should also practice good hygiene after handling chillies. Wash hands thoroughly before having a pee and touching pretty much any skin down there.

Or putting in contact lenses, as I discovered recently.

Capsicum is pretty damned persistent on my skin. I’ve washed my hands thoroughly after slicing them, and still suffered mightily when going for a pee quite a while later.

Don't spray Ralgex on a thigh muscle strain, then go to bed without tight underpants

You might have wondered whether athlete's foot spray could deal with a similarly infuriating itch elsewhere than between ones toes. Since that's what's in the bathroom cabinet, you might even be tempted to try it. Yes, it turns out it does work, but you might make a mental note that next time you'll just pour petrol over the whole area and set yourself on fire, just to see if it hurts any less.

It's also worth noting that eating chillis and later licking sensitive parts of other people also has consequences.

Toothpaste applied to the parts has a similar effect

I got blisters on Christmas Eve from secondary contact with a California Reaper. It was incredibly horrible - but I couldn't taste a thing!

I've also heard about semen ending up with a spicy flavour after eating a lot of curry, but I'm not sure if it's an urban myth. Not prima facie implausible though, as allergens can be transferred in seminal fluid.

A former girlfriend told me this was so.

Fortunately, she liked curry...

If I eat curry my sweat smells of cumin. Can't figure out how to rearrange the syllables for the joke.

More seriously to get capsicum off your hands it may work to apply some sort of oily moisturiser and then scrub it off again with soap and water after a minute or two.

Good tip, oil-wise.

Shpalman is right. Capsaicin is lipophillic (dissolves in fats, oil, etc, rather than polar solvents like water). Milk works, but only really the full-fat milk. Dipping the tips of your fingers in a small bowl of olive oil seems to work for me, although it may be that it worked one time and all the other times have been unnecessary!
