Dunno, my granny was pretty frail by 96, needed to go everywhere in a wheelchair and got dementia, but still made it to over 100.

Not sure how much it's fair to expect from somebody that old. She's 30 years past retirement age ffs. If I were her I'd happily just sit around in a mansion under a blanket drinking gin. I'd happily do that anyway, tbh.

And eating crisps, presumably.

Goes without saying ;)

I wonder what the queen's favourite crisps are? Can't say I've ever spotted one of those "by appointment" thingies on a bag of quavers.

When BBC1 bins its afternoon schedule and Huw Edwards puts his black tie on, we're in the home straight.

Indeed - "Family gathers at Balmoral " rather than "Queen taken to hospital from Balmoral" means only one thing.

Well you’ve left it a bit flipping late to try and find out, haven’t you?

I can’t see any crisp-related Royal Warrant holders , unless one counts Waitrose. HM appears to be (or have been) more of a chocolate kind of a woman.

It’ll probably be in the Times obit. “HM was a huge fan of Pickled Onion Monster Munch.”

Rumours circulating on twitter that somebody sent her EPD's Truss gif and it pushed her over the edge.

I'm sure it'll be mentioned somewhere in the ensuing coverage.

I thought that was going to be crisp news.

Probably Royalty have to put up with rubbish like this:

I like the desaturated photo, apparently implying that the pig-handler's brown jumper is the most important part of that truffle-hunting scene.

Presumably the queen could just get some lackey to cook up a batch of hot, fresh crisps on demand. Possibly in an air fryer, though that c.nt tom p never got back to us about it.

Latest from my highly unreliable source:

- narrative of "peacefully, surrounded by family" was her wish
- family now assembled
- announcement early evening

Pretty keen on champagne too.

Good news. The sooner we move on the better. f.ck knows what the cultural implications will be but we might as well get on with it.

What happened to that crook Johnson’s resignation honours? I thought he was going to go out with his pay backs. Mad Nads to the Lords, knighthoods to wallpaper suppliers, and that sort of thing?

I assume that can't happen now?

I've been off the booze lately because I got bored of it and it costs money but this seems as good a time as any to get stuck in. (I haven't yet by the way, this is still normal me)
