He recently (2018, I think) became Royal Patron of the Faculty of Homoeopathy,
With any luck his reign will be so watered down it will have no effect at all.
Needs to be a 21C monarch.

You just need to bash him on the head with a heavy Bible three more times.
This place is not a place of honor, no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here, nothing valued is here.
What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us.
This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

Now that we're no longer Elizabethans, what are we? Carolingians?

Huh? We’ve never called ourselves Elizabethans, that’s for the prats in Blackadder with tights and ruffs.

We can legitimately now say "Chuck the Monarchy" and it's not seditious.

Just a thought for the history nerds.

I'm watching the funeral.

The pageantry and traditions are interesting, along with who is there, who is involved in the service, all the bling, uniforms, medals, hats etc. And the usual dreary C of E hymns. Presumably the leaders of other religions are there somewhere too.

And unlike Blackadder, Will the Bard, etc., we weren't subjects of Elizabeth I, or Elizabeth II, and aren't subjects of Charles III.

Throughout, we've been citizens of the United Kingdoms of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, not subjects of a particular monarch of those kingdoms.

I remember that I read
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Young_Elizabethan in the 1960s. (The Wikipedia article is probably mistaken in suggesting it was aimed at "grammar school" students - the secondary school that I subsequently attended didn't buy it, my junior school did.)

There was a bit of discussion the other day about a multifaith meeting held on friday. Charles was commended for telling a rabbi that it was time for him to leave to ensure he was home for the sabbath, and for bringing the meeting forward a little to allow the rabbi to attend. On the other hand, what kind of person holds a multifaith event on a friday evening anyway? Better to hold it on a day when orthodox jews aren't going to be worrying about the start of shabbat and where the muslims aren't worrying about fitting it round friday prayers.

He does seem to be genuinely interested in the subject. I remember a report a few years back that Charles had been learning Arabic so that he could read the Quran in the original.

Would be ironic if his Arabic is better than his Welsh.

I suspect he would have thought "I could learn Arabic and then read the Quran", called on teachers, spent some time, failed to learn Arabic, and then left it another unfulfilled ambition.

I suspect that’s how Boris Johnson has convinced everyone he’s some super talented polyglot.
I’ve decided I should be on the pardon list if that’s still in the works
