Sir David Attenborough 1926-2023 (cancelled)

Post by lpm » Fri Mar 10, 2023 4:12 pm

Who'd have thought this leftie woke north London socialist would get cancelled by the BBC before he got cancelled by Death.

Can't have his type fighting to conserve Britain, it would enrage conservatives.

Oh no, Gary Lineker 1960-2023 has also been cancelled by the BBC, how will we know who won football matches now.

Given the degree of political comment produced by Clarkson, Sugar, and Neil while they presented BBC programmes without any challenge, it's hard not to see this as a further blow to any shred of impartiality the BBC might have been thought to possess.

In terms of commentary, I would prefer the BBCto err on the side of kindness in making such decision. If a commentator in one area (say cars) actually punches someone, then they should be suspended or sacked. If they make cruel homophobic comments, then they should be suspended or sacked. If they say something in support of kindness, such as supporting refugees or starving children, then they should be praised.

oh no everyone's boycotting Match of the Day, the BBC is going to end up with Dave Spiggot (third highest scorer in the Beazer Homes League 1989) as the only presenter. AND THEN WHERE WILL WE BE.

Someone on Twitter helpfully posted a link to the BBC's complaints page. Apparently as well as the Attenborough and Lineker issues, Fiona Bruce on Question Time defended Boris's dad punching his mum.

The culture wars open up a bizarre new front.

Just think the Tories will spend the general election campaign fighting on a platform of another 5 years of this nonsense on top of the glorious 14 years we've already had with them.

I imagine the voters will be hugging themselves in delight at the prospect.

Clearly the Tories election strategists are earning their generous salaries ATM.

So the BBC are going to show match of the day without any punditry. Since they're only allowed to show a certain number of minutes of action, that seems rather silly, and will result in a very short show. Also, more highlights without punditry are on Youtube by 5:30pm.

Pretty sure I've read that the BBC is far to woke these days because it's run by the Islington Elites. Is this just an attempt at balance?

And can we add TV presenters to the list of people on strike?

The other current complaint is around Dorries' lunatic claims that Sue Gray is a close personal friend of Starmer and they cooked up Partygate, Patterson, Pincher and all the rest between them.

The BBC interviewer obviously allowed these outright partisan falsehoods to stand uncontested because ... you know ... they're strictly impartial and everything.

And if you look closely the sign on the door of the disused lavatory containing the locked filing cabinet they put the acknowledgement in, says "Beware of the Leopard".

Sounds like something Robbie Gibb would say.

If you haven't heard of him, Wiki says [deep breath] … he's the brother of Conservative MP Nick Gibb, was political advisor and chief of staff to Francis Maude, played a leading role in Michael Portillo's unsuccessful campaign to be leader of the Conservative Party, was the head of the BBC's political programme output before becoming Director of Communications for Theresa May, was GB News' editorial adviser, and eventually joined the BBC Board as the Member for England, following his comments about "woke" and "endemic" bias in entertainment output.

I'd better look up Richard Sharp, Tim Davie, and John McAndrew now just to make sure they're not massive tory c.nts too.

No commentators either now* and it's being reported that players will refuse to do interviews with the BBC (unless their sponsors object or someone threatens them with a yellow card).

The BBC says Attenborough wasn't cancelled.

This is totally inaccurate, there is no ‘6th episode’. Wild Isles is – and always was - a 5 part series. We acquired a separate film for iPlayer from the RSPB, WWF and Silverback Films about people working to preserve and restore the biodiversity of the British Isles.

Yeah right, a separate film made by the same people at the same time with a very similar title. It’s still their decision not to show it on broadcast tv.

Countryfile originally said there were six episodes, though they've since edited the site to say it's five.
