BMJ taken in by stem cell scammers

Post by sTeamTraen »

The BMJ published this article just 13 days ago, and is now probably wishing it hadn't. It claims that injections of stem cells are beneficial in recovery from heart attacks, but the fraud in the dataset is visible from space.

It will surely be particularly embarrassing for QMUL, where two researchers, including a senior cardiologist, managed to get themselves caught up in this. (Ha ha, just joking! QMUL is never embarrassed by its staff's malfeasance, as shown by the PACE trial.)

The stuff at the visible from space link is actually pretty funny, I thought. Even One of Two who is a literary studies PhD laughed out loud at first sight of the WBC data.
