Social Media for Public Health

Post by Stephanie » Mon Mar 30, 2020 2:08 pm

Just came across this site (although it has been around a while) and thought I'd flag to you lot http://www.socialmediaforpublichealth.org/

From their about page:
We are a team of academic researchers who utilize web and social media data to understand important problems in public health.

Our team originally formed in 2015 under our NIH R01, “Supplementing Survey-Based Analyses of Group Vaccination Narratives and Behaviors Using Social Media”, which uses computer algorithms, demographic and geolocation identifiers, and the scale of Big Data, to combine existing survey techniques with Twitter conversations about vaccination.

In the past several years, our team as grown to consider other domains in public health.
