He looked strong when he strongly walked up the stairs and strongly took his mask off.

This bit, not so much.

Longer vid here, looks like the effort of climbing the stairs left him gasping for breath. That man ain’t well.

He claims to be better. No reason not to push him hard from the Biden camp POV.

ETA: This is an attempt to argue Trump will definitely get more seriously ill or die, just that it isn't a good idea to treat something with a long timescale and a lot of fluctuations like a horse race.
In a quite magnificent Freudian slip, you definitely left a “not” out of there.
Not even a freudian slip, just in pain and on morphine+DHC, but yes, I did leave a "not" out.
This happens to me all the time, no morphine or Freud involved.

I once sent an email to a senior collaborator who was about to fly to visit me
“I hope your flight has problems.”

When I saw Trump walking to the helicopter on Friday it reminded me...

Back in a physiology class we were messing around and I recall several of us taking it in turns to take quite a few breaths of pure oxygen. Then we competed to see how long we could hold our breath - or how many times we could walk round the lab without taking a breath.

If you can preload with O2 it would be possible to appear a lot healthier than you are for a short walk across a lawn.

"Just sayin"

Amateurs. You should have preloaded with O2 and taken a load of steroids.

Well he's not going to be able to do much debating if he can barely breathe.
You can keep up the pretence for two minutes, like in that video, when you're not required to speak and they pump you full of whatever gets you up the stairs. Not for 45 minutes on a stage.

Have to say, the Trump helicopter video is fantastic. Volume up loud, full screen, for the true cinematic greatness.

YES! When he hears that idea Trump will want to reshoot it. Get a bunch of zebras and giraffes and sh.t on the lawn below him, he holds up Ivanka, all the animals bow their heads. And then hyenas kill Joe Biden.

They buggered up the editing there.

30secs: Donald the Draft-Dodger Trump salute farewell to the "loser" marines he's probably just infected

32 secs: Helicopter flies off so the "sucker" marines can get tested in whatever run-down hospital the Trump administration currently deems fit for the armed services.

34 secs: Helicopter takes off a second time

35 secs: Dodger Donald salutes a second time

I'm going full Zapruder here and want to postulate a "Second Helicopter" theory.

Do we have to use "fat f.ck"?

Just because Trump (a) is obese and (b) deserves plenty of abuse doesn't make insulting obese people *in general* ok, which is a bit how that language comes across to me I'm afraid.

(Not an official modly post, and not something I want to start a big dingdong about)
I'm not insulting anyone but Trump, but "fat" or "morbidly obese" in this context is a descriptor and of relevance given it increases risk of Covid nasties. If I was insulting someone else I'd make that obvious...

And it is using Trumpian language to describe Trump, which I'm sure he'd be happy with.
It's so much more attractive inside the moral kiosk

wtaf - why's he saluting at al ??l - he's not in uniform !!!

Someone needs to explain the protocols to him - if they dare.

You can salute when not in uniform, but you should only salute if you have been in the military (otherwise, I think, the American protocol is to put your right hand on your heart).

Not the Pres, he's Commander in Chief so gets saluted and salutes back. He's wearing his version of the uniform (suit, extra long tie and diaper).

Presidents don't usually salute helicopters. But he liked the helicopter so why not.

5 seconds on Google Images turns up a lot of pictures of Obama, who never served in the US military, saluting the Marine when getting on the helicopter. He got flak one time because he had a cup of coffee in his hand as he was doing it. I long for the days when a minor gaffe like that caused people to froth about "disrespect for the office of President".

He's the boss of the armed forces. I think that means he's the one who decides who salutes and when.

Out of all the things you could criticise Trump for, this is at the bottom of my list.

At least he didn't salute with a cup of coffee in his right hand while wearing a tan suit.

Two personal aides to Trump tested positive now, both members of the US Military. By the sound of it, not the kind of people who get invited to superspreading garden parties to gloat about replacing a woman before she's even in the ground, so it looks like they got it straight from Trump, especially as one is a valet, and that malignant shitfunnel insisted on having his hair and makeup done even while shedding the virus.

Admiral Ray, Vice Commandant of the US Coast Guard has tested positive. Joint chiefs of staff now in quarantine and working from home

Pretty important details in that thread that link Trump's comments blaming military for Hope Hicks getting infected and Admiral Ray getting infected. There was an event for families of fallen service people, held without masks or social distancing, on the Sunday before the debate. Admiral Ray was there. So were the elderly relatives of fallen service people.
