I mean, he won't be arrested by dessert, but since I mentioned it in the other thread, I may as well have the integrity to stand by it.

I'd like it to be after dessert tonight, but I very much doubt it. I'm sure it won't take too long before the paperwork begins.

Re: ex-President Trump
I'm guessing never, which isn't an option in the poll.
I certainly don't expect there to be any rush to do it. They know where he'll be. I expect he's probably too racist to be much of a flight risk.

I could see him going to Saudi Arabia, he's misogynist enough and teetotal, after all. To live in an all ex-pat gated community.Bird on a Fire wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 5:42 pmI'm guessing never, which isn't an option in the poll.

Shouldn't be a problem, the Saudis aren't too keen on half of the Muslims either.Bird on a Fire wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 5:51 pmHe's famously not too keen on Muslims, though.dyqik wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 5:44 pmI could see him going to Saudi Arabia, he's misogynist enough and teetotal, after all. My avatar was a scientific result that was later found to be 'mistaken' - I rarely claim to be 100% correct
ETA 5/8/20: I've been advised that the result was correct, it was the initial interpretation that needed to be withdrawn
Meta? I'd say so!

This thread title offends me. You should respect the office and use the full title “Single Term, Twice Impeached Ex-President Trump”
In the unlikely event the Senate vote to convict, feel free to officially add “Disgraced” somewhere in there.

Re: ex-President Trump
People will soon start discussing United States versus Nixon, Nixon versus Fitzgerald and Clinton versus Jones.
Basically the President has a certain degree of immunity from prosecution or civil law suits concerning the actions committed while they were President and performing their presidential duties. That immunity doesn't extend to actions before they were sworn in, nor to actions that took place when they were President but weren't part of their official duties.
However, there is a fuzzy distinction between what is and isn't part of a President's duties, and that could employ armies of lawyers for years.
So Trump could be sued or prosecuted for anything that happened before 20 January 2017. For things that happened afterward, its complicated.

I voted never after his funeral. Trump is 74 and not in great shape. I expect that criminal investigations will take years and be held up by legal disputes. He'll probably die first.

Re: ex-President Trump
Something poetic about him ending his term in the middle of a swamp, surrounded by vicious reptiles and meth-addicts.
This place is not a place of honor, no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here, nothing valued is here.
What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us.
This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

Ted Cruz, desperately wanting to inherit Trump's base...:
What beggars belief is that there are people on Twitter agreeing with him.
To which Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, responded: "Quick question: do you also believe the Geneva Convention was about the views of the citizens of Geneva?"By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Biden indicates he’s more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh. This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans.

Also worth noting that the city of Pittsburgh was one of many US jurisdictions to continue to try to meet Paris commitments despite Trump's withdrawal.FlammableFlower wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 4:51 pmTed Cruz, desperately wanting to inherit Trump's base...:
