6 May 2023?
That's one of the days when I refuse to recognise Charles Windsor as anyone special, even if on that date he styles himself king in some farcical aquatic ceremony.

So you're hoping for heavy rain, leading to the Thames bursting its banks at Westminster, all because some hapless Tory minister got the Thames Barrier switched off in the closed position?

... with sewage from Thames Water filling the Abbey and some of Putin's dolphins swimming in with mines.

So we don't even get a Bank Holiday.

Couldn't it be two days earlier?
Got me thinking about the royal family in Star Wars. According to the Wookiepedia, Princess Leia's father was King Kayos. Which sounds beautifully appropriate for our times*
*well; with enough hindsight the people who enjoy the re-built world will think it beautifully appropriate

It can't be that day, Pompey are playing Wycombe - last game of the season.

Don't worry, he's said he wants a pared back ceremony; so it'll be done in a Register Office, and it'll be a platter of sandwiches from Greggs on the side for the celebration (maybe a box of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts if the budget allows). I'm sure the match will go ahead.

Yaye - I'll be out of the country. But only in France and the French seem quite besotted with the Royal Family.
[Also, I'll be there for the Cup Final on the 13th]

I dunno. Sounds like an excuse for a knees-up.
You can always drop republican talking points if you go to one.

Self-slicing. What a brilliant idea.
It's the best thing since sliced cake.

Speaking of the king, I was in a Conservative club tonight. Can report they still have a pic of the queen in the bar. Presumably until there’s an official portrait of Charles III, but maybe they haven’t heard?
Perhaps I should tell them, loudly and clearly.

It being a Con Club, they might put up a pic of Liz Truss!

Only in the toilet. She's not going to displace Saint Maggie of Grantham.
