Ireland is in Europe. I was wondering the same.
Surely the USA government would understand the difference?
It says "mainland" so presumably not the UK or Ireland or Crete or Iceland etc.

NBA is men's netball, I think.
They'll no doubt stop rounders and morris-dancing-on-ice-while-chasing-a-slice-of-black-pudding next.

I'm imagining loads of people crossing over to Gibraltar right now. I'm getting a few hours sleep and off first thing in the morning to further enhance my stockpile.

It's so weird.
In a month the US will be hotter than China. The EU will want to stop travellers from the US. It will be the US that creates flare ups around the world.

The politics is baffling. None of these NBA players are European. Tom Hanks is in Australia. Even red-hatted idiots will know this isn't a Europe thing.

Juventus has a case. The football season is over, I presume. At least the Champions League won't happen anyway.
The Premier League 2019-20 will leave Liverpool hanging, forever two games from the most dominant victory of all time.

From a friend's Facebook:
So we've got a bunch of scientific data showing a sudden uptick in something that will be severely costly, disruptive and frequently fatal to humans. When the data is plotted it kind of looks like some hooked stick you might use to hit a ball around with in a team sport. Scientists are able to computer model a large range of possible outcomes based on current data and possible societal responses right now (when things don't *look* that bad locally). According to those predictions, business as usual = very bad, do a number of mildly disruptive things (and think of other people) right now = we'll mostly all be ok. And politicians are mostly ignoring them and imagining conspiracies.
What I'm saying is that the coronavirus is clearly just part of the Sun's natural variability. The clue's in the name, f.ckers!

Couple of things on this:
https://twitter.com/michaeltinmouth/sta ... 552034821
The graph he shows has no source but shows number of tests going down - anyone know the actual numbers on this? Has he been caught by hoax/sh.t-stirrers? Can't think of why the number of tests would reduce - thought someone on here said capacity was being increased dramatically? If so, is he actually a hoax himself?
I wouldn't be surprised if testing numbers had stayed the same for a couple of days as the reference labs doing the testing are certainly at max capacity and are prioritising samples from hospitalised patients (well, round these parts anyway) but can't believe testing numbers have gone down. In-house testing in local labs will likely be ready early next week so capacity will increase then, although I believe it's likely that community testing will be switched off and the focus will remain on testing in-patients.

I am supposed to be flying to New York on Sunday to be there for SO's birthday on St Paddy's day. Booked NBA tickets and Book of Mormon tickets for us all. Lokks likely that we will not be going. Boo!

Yes, sorry, I corrected myself afterwards. I'd read the graph wrong.

Reached a refugee camp in northern Iraq.
Not a day goes by without me acknowledging to myself how damned fortunate I am.

Boo indeed. That is bobbins.
Church of England news: no sharing of the chalice, ie bread only for the pew fodder, and the priest gets to drink all the wine. Woo! Also, no shaking of hands on welcome or during sharing the peace. My suggestion of finger guns as a suitable replacement hasn’t been accepted by the PTB. I think Easter services are not going to happen.

In most churches, I guess the x metre space between people will not be difficult

It's reached the Pacific islands. Quite amazing that in 3 months it can go from a single person in inland China to the most remote places on the planet.

In two weeks I would have been going to a fun geeky conference in Atlanta that is held every 2 years. I was having my doubts about going, but the decision has now been made for me. Just two days ago KLM sent me an email "checklist for your trip to Atlanta" with no mention of Covid. I wonder what their next email is going to say, and if it's going to be easy to get the costs of my flight tickets back.
