A better plan would be to call for a debate with Vance - while she's still VP. Then debate with Trump.

Well that's that.
Really sad. But it was over.
I hereby publicly endorse Hunter Biden.
A real cunning plan would be to steal J D Vance to become Kamala’s VP. After all, Vance will say anything to get ahead and it will leave Trump floundering.
I’m not being entirely serious.
He’s now endorsed Kamala
Just realised something. Maddow was saying last week that J D Vance would not have been chosen as VP if the GOP was in any way worried about the election - he’s not a choice that would attract suburban mums. Harris v Trump as prosecutor v felon and Harris v Vance as pro choice v anti choice (I refuse to call it pro life) should be great.

Contrasting an old and doddery man with the younger and more dynamic Harris should help. I don’t think it’s in the bag for her, but presumably as Biden won the primaries his endorsement helps.

Biden not announcing until Trump is locked in as the Republican nominee is a good move, btw. Trump's negatives are a rich target, plus now he's the old and doddering candidate who rambles on

I've heard noise around the idea that the Republicans will challenge any other Democratic nominee in the courts for procedural reasons I don't understand.

Procedurally they’re shitheads

They can't if Harris is the nominee. She was on ticket that won the primary, and the delegates elected in the primary are her delegates.
If the Democrats pass over Harris without her stepping down, then about a third of the states have delegates that are bound by State law to vote for her for between one to four votes. Only Oklahoma permanently binds its delegates. They could be prosecuted if they voted against Harris, but it wouldn't change the nominee.
In all cases, the slot on the ticket goes to the nominee. There is no mechanism for states to decide who should be the nominee, any more than the Democrats can bring lawsuits challenging Trump being on the ballot as the nominee (lawsuits challenging him under the 14th Amendment are a different matter).

Worth noting that Biden and Harris won the primaries. It was a joint campaign.

If the scriptwriters have any guts they’ll make Mitt Romney the VP candidate.

That was my first idea for the joke but he has at least some principles and so probably wouldn’t be able to bring himself to lie about his stance on abortion. Vance has principles so he would just tow the party line as long as that was most likely to get him power

The last uncertain convention, for either party, was 1984.
Walter Mondale ahead, but not quite over the line. Gary Hart knowing he would be the front runner for 1988 and would lose to Reagan anyway. Then of course 1988 went rather badly for Hart, what with Donna Rice and Monkey Business.
It looks like this time it will run fairly smoothly. Other candidates know it'll be a struggle to overtake Harris but could be a candidate in 2028 or 2032.

I’d love Pete Buttigieg to be named VP.
The two of them would excel in any debate or speeches.
But I’m not convinced America is ready for a Black/Asian female president and a gay male VP.

Are the bigots going to be voting Democrat anyway?

There are a lot of Democrats who are homophobic. Can't just assume bigots are on the one side.
I like the look of the astronaut guy for VP. Combat, medals, space, gun control and 11 Arizona EC votes.

Yeah Mark
But I think they have to pick someone from the Midwest to take on Vance directly. White, straight and male - basically the role Biden played for Obama (Obama was his own Midwest support).
Josh Shapiro (PA Gov) seems a good option who's been talked up.

His twin brother, Mark.
But I've heard from my top sources that Taylor Swift has already been asked.

Travis Kelce would break the GOP's mind, and probably deliver Kansas and Missouri.

What about one of the Republican recent SCOTUS appointments - is there anything that would require them to be replaced?

Huh?
Being corrupt and lying to the Senate don't even merit a second look, these days.

Trump is going to refuse to debate again.
Demanding the agreed second debate is on Fox, presumably as an excuse for it not happening.
I doubt Vance will debate either.

Sounds like it's snowballing fast. State delegations all coming out to support Harris, along with Senators and other notable players.
This could be a done deal by tomorrow morning.
