Ah, I was thinking about Amy brace of coneys and the process for nomming her. Cos if murkowski and Collins stick to their word on the issue, they now don't have a maj to vote her through, I think, at least for a while

Currently the Republicans are down to 49 Covid-free Senators.
So it's a slight chance they could get to 46, then the 47 Democrats would seize control on the grounds of preventing the Supreme Court travesty.
Of course, infectious Senators could just come and vote anyway, coughing away next to their colleagues.
I think it might matter more for the Judiciary subcommittee. If they can't move the process along, the timetable falls apart and the nomming would be delayed to post election.

Which, for context, was the subcommittee in which Mike Lee spoke at length, unmasked, in a crowded, not especially large room just before testing positive. Everyone present should be isolating and testing, and out of action for ten days or so even if they don't test positive.

Anyway, I was going to say, CNN are now reporting that trump is having breathing difficulties. If that's true, it seems quite early in the timeline compared to average?
Could it be that trump caught it first and gave it to Hope Hicks?

I saw a link to the telegraph saying that on some kind of live feed this morning, but not anywhere else. The breathing difficulties thing that is.

Not on oxygen, not having any trouble breathing.

Did this doctor guy say Trump's 72 hours into the illness? The announcement of his positive test was 36 hours ago. Was announced about midnight Thurs evening.
ETA: Clarified it was Thurs afternoon test, result came through Thurs evening. But I thought they were doing 20 min tests?
ETA: strongly implied he was on oxygen yesterday, but not now. "Has not been on oxygen while at Walter Reed", kept dodging question of whether he was previously.

Well that was a lot of very high ranking doctors covering their collective arse in case he pegs it.
Some scenarios:
Trump survives, but has given in to Biden who doesn't. This is worst case.
Trump survives just long enough to be elected as a dead president.
The State funeral manages to spread Covid to the heads of the free world and our royal family. Or...
This State funeral will be the most greatest, tremendously, magnificently sparse, socially distanced, least attended funeral of an American president ever.
He survives but he's still a vegetable.

The timeline is hopelessly confused.
Lying doctor who can't measure weight successfully said:
- 72 hours into diagnosis (implying positive test about Weds midday)
- antibodies administered 48 hours ago (implies Thurs afternoon)
- also said was tested Thurs afternoon (PCR test) and got the results Thurs evening (the official announcement following at about 1 a.m. Friday morning)
Also said "slightly" overweight!! Also implied oxygen at some point.

The exact words, read by the doctor from a written statement in front of him, were:
"just 72 hours into the diagnosis now"
It matters, because Trump was out and about - most noticeably at a maskless indoor fundraiser - during this time.
A second doctor, speaking without a written statement, said:
"about 48 hours ago the President received a special antibody therapy"

Hmm.

Wouldn't 72 hours suggest that he took part in the debate after being diagnosed, as opposed to merely after his contacts had tested positive? Or am I mangling the timelines completely here?

It took Johnson over a week to decline this far, so unless Trump was positive much earlier - he did skip testing before the debate, but did not seem fatigued - he's going downhill much faster

Worth noting he turned up at the debate venue too late to be tested, and got in on the honour system

72 hours ago was 14 hours after the debate finished.
As EACL says, he was not tested at the debate.

72 hours ago was, however, before a packed indoor rally and an indoor fundraiser at a golf course.

One potential outcome is that Kamala Harris ends up president.

And we have no idea when his last negative test was.

He is 15 years older than Johnson.

More like 18 years older with almost certainly more advanced coronary artery disease.

Now seeing claims they misspoke re: 72 hours, and actually meant "this is the third day", but it's clear they are willing to lie about this, and would have tried to hide it for longer had Jennifer Jacobs found out about Hicks via a source and broken the news.
Could swear it's up to three senators by now, too.
