Double the EV per Congress Reps, ie 435 x 2.
538 becomes 973. Wyoming has 4 EV. California has 108. Michigan has 30.
254 EV out of 973 would be from four states, CA, NY, FL, TX.

Or split EVs by congressional district, rather than winner takes all, as a couple of states do already?

Things are getting really nastily heated there and Trump is pouring fuel on the fire.

Which is really f.cking stupid when he's the incumbent and attempting to run on "Look how out of control things are", while trusted less on law and order than Biden.

Do you think he realises that he's running as incumbent by this stage in his decline? He's also trying to push the angle that Biden is senile, which is an interesting hill for him to chose to fight on.

From outside it does look bonkers, but he seems to be trying to convince everyone that everything's wonderful and anything bad they see (or indeed can think of) is the result of "liberals" and "socialists" (for which read "democrats") and definitely not Trump.

Gaslighting, innit.
One the one hand he's fanning the flames and exploiting the fear, on the other he's saying "it's not me, it's them". He seems to be using the same tactic on just about everything: He's doing an awesome job fighting against a pandemic, but it is also nothing to worry about; He's bringing the troops home, but also loves to project American might with its drones and bombs; and so on.
If you're a supporter of his, you'd have to give up on reality for it all to make sense.

Lots of people are saying that there are some bigly new additions to the English-Trump
dictionary, additions like you wouldn't believe, additions a lot of people have only just learnt about:-
"
this weekend" - 3 months ago
"
a plane-load" - twelve people
"
wearing these dark uniforms, black uniforms, with gear and this and that." - wearing black
"
under investigation right now" - publicly debunked by the police in June
"
I'll tell you sometime." - if I remember I'll forward you the 4chan link.

It's the little detail about the "Antifa America" tattoo that highlights the screaming bollocks of it all in that story. The lying f.ckers just can't help themselves from adding one stupid detail too far to set off the b.llsh.t alarms.

And this bit:
Earlier in the Ingraham interview, Trump claimed vaguely that there are "people that are in the dark shadows," and that Democratic nominee Joe Biden was being controlled by "people that you haven't heard of."
Seriously?

I mean, to some extent this is true - Biden is 'controlled' (or at least heavily influenced) by a load of political strategists, advisors, lobbyists and donors, with the latter groups especially fitting the description of 'in the dark shadows'. Both Biden's primary campaign and the Democratic Party in general get a lot of funding from people that you haven't heard of, including via
Super PACs that give them the ability to
remain anonymous.
That's also true of Trump, of course.
But in a stopped-clock kind of way Trump is right about shadowy forces undermining democracy. He's just completely wrong (or bullshitting) about who they are.

I'm not liking the latest Pennsylvania poll. Ahead, but not what you'd call too big to rig.
And Pennsylvania is the state with the highest correlations with other states - not just Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Ohio, but also Maine, New Hampshire and Iowa. If you only were allowed a single poll in a single state, you'd pick Pennsylvania.

The polling seems to have split a lot in recent days into more positive and more negative outlooks. god knows which way it'll go.

It's a poll of 400 people. The MoE is therefore ±4.5% on each candidate, ±9% on the horserace.

Look at the field dates of the polls - some were taken during the GOP convention, some over the weekend after it, some in the past two days. I think there's some signs of a split between phone polls on weekends/holidays and weekdays, and the convention bounce is a real thing.
Polls that are being released won't stabilize to post-bounce levels until a week or so from now.

From that Silver bloke:
Chance of a Biden Electoral college win if he wins the popular vote by X points:
0-1 points: 6%
1-2 points: 22%
2-3 points: 46%
3-4 points: 74%
4-5 points: 89%
5-6 points: 98%
6-7 points: 99%

Well TBF if you take out the very convenient tattoo, all you are left with is the mind-numbingly tedious anecdote that somebody once saw someone dressed in black get off a plane.
I think it speaks volumes about the howling void that is the daily existence of Trumpwits that they felt the need to invent such a banal experience and it was then widely shared.

Trump encourages supports to vote twice - that couldn't possibly go wrong...
Washington Post wrote:President Trump, on Wednesday during a trip in battleground North Carolina, urged voters to vote twice, once by mail and once in person, to test the protections intended to guard against double voting.
Trump, who has claimed the 2020 election will be rife with fraud and rigged against him, was asked by a local television reporter whether he had confidence in the vote-by-mail system.
“Let them send it in and let them go vote, and if their system’s as good as they say it is, then obviously they won’t be able to vote. If it isn’t tabulated, they’ll be able to vote,” Trump said.
Intentionally voting twice is illegal, and in many states, including North Carolina, it is a felony.
The president also greeted supporters on the tarmac upon landing in Wilmington, N.C., and made nearly identical comments, encouraging them to send in their ballot “and then go in and vote.”

Of course what will happen is people will vote by mail, then go to vote in person, get told that they cannot vote and come out claiming the Democrats are preventing them voting.
And that lie will be on its second lap of the planet before the truth has found its shoe-horn.

Or to put it more mildly the electoral college reinforces the federal nature of the US. So for example Wyoming with a population of circa half a million still gets its own electors.
What they need to do is redraw the state boundaries so that they have more similar populations.
