Yeah - apparently it’s all Alistair Campbell’s fault and Ukraine, Vaccines, Ukraine, Vaccines etc

Surely those still supporting BoJo are going to be tainted and lose their cabinet jobs when he's gone... unless they're reckoning the party simply doesn't have enough talent to replace them.
I had to laugh last night when Ch4 News flat-up challenged JRM that the only reason he supports Johnson is that no other PM would ever consider having someone as dishonest and useless as him in their Cabinet.

Cue a huffy JRM chucking a strop that he wouldn't want to serve under any other PM but Johnson and anyway he already has a PM who we wouldn't know as he goes to another in another Cabinet ... in Canada. :)

Now up to 15 resignations.

The vote of no confidence was 211 vs 148. Hence 32 switchers needed. They have that already, from these 15 plus a bunch of backbenchers who'll have flipped.

Sweepstake on how long he can cling on? Hours, days, weeks or months?

Will he try to punish the Tory traitors by calling an election?

We need an actual list of names, because not keeping track of who quit when might lead to double counting.

Does he need a parliamentary majority (i.e. most of his party behind him) to do that? I forget where we are with FTPA etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 1922 announce something today. Perhaps if Graham Brady says he believes there's now a majority it will lead to a rule change now, rather than bothering to wait the 1922 elections.

Clearly there's no benefit to the party from letting this drag out till next week. They all know that.

Naah, he'll put on some clogs and adopt a comedy dutch accent & call himself Joris Bonson (with the J pronounced as a Y)

FTPA is gone and it reverted to the constitution as if FTPA had never existed.

Highly unlikely that the Queen would dissolve her parliament on the request of her Prime Minister if he wasn't supported by cabinet, party and implicit majority in the House. But there's no precedent for any of this.

I wouldn't be surprised if people like Gove, Truss, maybe Raab jump in a few days if he's still there (with a heavy heart, for the good of the country/party etc)

Sunak will surely retain the record for shortest serving chancellor. Zahawi would take it for shortest-serving chancellor

Although I think that's the rules I referred to above/elsewhere as only being written down in a letter to the Times.

The problem with that is that nobody has ever heard of most of them.

As long as none of them have the same names, that's fine.

I was thinking more of vandalism. I mean if I told you that Chris Hoy & Bradley Wiggins had resigned, you'd have to double-check that I wasn't just adding in other british olympic cycling greats alongside Laura Trott for lols

Hustings for the leadership candidates being arranged for Monday.

Makes sense, need to get the MPs part of the election process done before recess.

“Why did you promote him”

“He’s now been sacked”

“Did you say Pincher by name pincher by nature?”

“We’ve got people off welfare.”

“You didn’t deny it. Will you apologise for victim blaming?”

“I didn’t sack him quickly enough. We’re cutting taxes.”

“You ignored it for ages. The sinking ships are fleeing the rat.”

“Can you imagine if Corbyn was in power?”

“The whole cabinet is the charge of the lightweight brigade and are a bunch of nodding dogs.”

“There’s a war in Ukraine!”
