Blaming Labour is a pointless response anyway. Even if they're 100% correct, "some people in the past didn't help much either" isn't justification for not helping today.
It's all a fairly good use of tactics that have caused problems for the er, non-right recently. 'Get Brexit Done' and all the nice quick slogans drown out all the rational arguments because e.g. with GBD - most people *were* sick of Brexit, I know I was, so unless you were really worried about leaving the EU, all the other stuff seemed like pointless nitpicking. Now the free school meals thing - nobody gives a sh.t if the Tories have done sensible targeted policies or have increased funding to councils by some figure that's totally meaningless out of context. The Tories could factually be completely right on this and I don't think it would really change anyone's minds that much.
And it does help that it's something concrete, you can imagine a hungry kid sitting there staring at an empty plate all sad, but 'free broadband for all' doesn't have a lot of imagery.
So yeah well done for this one Labour, nice job. And Marcus Rashford who it seems has been pretty much committed to helping people in need of a hand since he was old enough to leave the house by himself, what an example.
Stating the obvious there disco.
