The farm sector in this country has always been this evil. I grew up in a rural area, and if you bothered to pay attention, you knew. Most people didn't bother to pay attention. People would bleat about young Britons refusing to work on farms, yet the people that I knew who tried were all rejected - the gangmasters didn't want witnesses, or people they could not so easily control by isolation+theft of passport.

Issuing visas for everyone in a family except one child. Guess what, the family doesn't travel. Our sh.t-aweful government can say "we've issued X-thousand visas. Ain't we great " but many simply aren't used.

Just heard the family’s chief racist banging on about how her friend who works in the housing department tells her that all the Ukrainian families are receiving £1,700 per month to look for accommodation even if they are already being put up by a British family. Any idea what she is going on about?

Russia has thwarted a plot to assassinate one of the Kremlin's chief propagandists, Vladimir Putin claimed today.

Russian FSB has fabricated a "plot" to kill Russian TV propagandist Solovyov. Allegedly by Ukrainian SBU and Nazis. One of the "evidences" is neonazi inscription on a book. Signed by "Signature unclear". Yes, FSB got an order to sign it with a "signature unclear" - and did so!

Ukrainian refugee left homeless after UK host demanded bill money

I've been fully expecting that some people would look at the £350 a month as a money making opportunity (though I don't know what's behind this particular case, perhaps the host found she couldn't get the £350 from the government until later or not at all or something).

On a lighter note, I was out in Lisbon the other night and someone dropped their glass, smashing it. Normally this would elicit cheers and clapping from the assembled punters, but this time somebody yelled out "Nastrovia!" and someone else "Spasibo!", so apparently dissing Russia is the new cool thing with the youth.
