People here may be familiar with Image Composite Editor, a piece of free Microsoft software that would stitch together multiple images to make a mosaic.
It looks as though Microsoft has decided that it no longer wants to offer it, and the relevant page now states

However, the Wayback machine still has links to the MSIs for the last version. 64 bit download
Even if you don't have plans to use it at the moment, I'd say it's worth downloading to a USB stick for the future
It can do this (about a dozen images in total, moved in two planes)

My avatar was a scientific result that was later found to be 'mistaken' - I rarely claim to be 100% correct
ETA 5/8/20: I've been advised that the result was correct, it was the initial interpretation that needed to be withdrawn
