Bugger. Had my covid booster booked for 12th Nov. Just this morning pushed it out to the 19th as we have loads going on the weekend of the 12th that I don't want to miss. And now I assume I'll have to cancel that as I've just tested positive for the disease itself. Not sure how long we're supposed to leave between having Covid and having booster? I know it was 12 weeks for the bagkitten for her first jab but that was months ago so not sure if the rules have changed, or are different for boosters.
The guidance down here is at least 12 weeks after recovering
Why rush it that quickly? Why not 6 months?
With annual boosters, better to have waning immunity from infection for 6 months, then waning immunity from injection for 6 months, rather than 3+9

GP doctors and nurses have better things to do with their time. The financial incentives have gone awry if a GP practice is doing stuff that can be handled by a school kid on a week's work experience.

In some areas there's not much choice. There may be only one small pharmacy. Or some people feel more comfortable going to the GP. Yes, GPs are overstretched but some take the view that whatever gets the maximum number vaccinated is worth it
We need a National Vaccine Service, specialising in giving adults their annual flu, Covid, Alzheimers and cancer vaccines. In 30 years we could all be getting 30 vaccines a year.
Just paid £17 for a flu jab appointment at Boots in November. Which is fine. But I can't do the same for covid. Either you're eligible through the NHS or you can't have it.

Covid is 50+ or those with underlying conditions.
My dad (76) had both of his a few weeks ago via his GP.

I don't fulfil the free jab criteria. Frau HS does though and had hers last week for free.
Both ours are tomorrow - Flu at 10:30 and Booster at 2pm
Given previous experience, we've nothing planned for the following day.

At least some GPs are if you're in one of the demographics affected.
Had both mine Tuesday at local GP surgery and Mrs V had hers about 10 minutes after. Bit sore on flu jab arm after, and completely wiped out Wednesday but fine now.

I just had a sore arm after both (a week apart), no other after effects. Having them together probably does put a bit more strain on the body.
My work have decided to organise them for staff, so I've got my flu jab booked for later this month. Not in the bracket open to the COVID jab, currently.
I had my omicron-flavoured Covid jab yesterday. Here in the Netherlands they were jabbing only the over-60s, medical staff and vulnerable people. Last week I found out that it is now open to anyone over 12. The only reason I found out is that I went to the website to check. I've not seen anything in the news about it.

The message here was to wait until you got an invite but someone I know told me they're now doing over 50s so I booked it myself.
