Fracking is no longer a confidence vote, which probably means they weren’t going to get the numbers and they lost their game of chicken with Tory MPs.

Some poor bloke was manhandled by Theresa Coffey and was dragged crying through the No lobby. I'd cry as well.

Just seen Tory whips manhandling a crying Tory MP into their lobby for fracking. You couldn’t make this toxic stuff up, nasty to see the Tories at work, if this is how they treat their MPs spare a thought for the country.
 FFS!

I see Rt Hon Wragg abstained, as did some others. Fair to assume that they, like him, have letters lodged with the 1933 ctte

Liz Truss failed to vote with the government.

Other rebels: the Chief Whip, the ex PM, the other ex PM, the ex Chancellor, various ministers.

They are working hard at upping the farce.

Is she seeing how unpopular she can get before being forced out?

Apparently Braverman quit due to a breach of the ministerial code - unusual to see that being relevant to this government.

How exactly can they claim to be a democratic government when they use force on the peoples elected representatives?

I believe you'd get jail time if you did that in a polling station. On top of the assault charge.

From the Guardian:
Earlier she met with the chair of the 1922 Committee, Sir Graham Brady, where they “agreed that there will be a leadership election to be completed within the next week”.
So they're not going to ask the party members to vote. Probably as they'd vote for Johnson.

In the poll Monkey posted a few days ago, I believe Gove got 1 vote out of 530.

This means that the new leader will be the one in power when the massive energy bills start to arrive?
