Michael Mosley
Realistically, how long could someone survive in those conditions if they were trapped or injured? He may have had some water with him (if he's conscious enough to drink).

Re: Michael Mosley
I believe that the rule of thumb is that people can survive three minutes without oxygen, three days without water and three weeks without food.
Obviously exceptional people can live for longer. Mosley is in his 60s and as far as I remember he's diabetic. It will also be hot in Greece this time of year, I guess over 40 degrees. So I doubt that he will be able to live much longer without a water supply or other help.
I doubt that he could have carried enough water to make a difference. If he had, say, a 1 liter bottle it wouldn't prolong his chances by much.
Also, why hasn't he been found? Three explanations come to mind. Firstly, that he fell into the sea, secondly, that he doesn't or didn't want to be found, thirdly that he seriously injured himself on land somewhere not obvious to searchers. All three scenarios don't hold out much hope for finding him alive.

I suppose there could be a more sinister option that he was attacked. I don't know what sort of safety reputation that area has.Woodchopper wrote: Sat Jun 08, 2024 1:34 pm I believe that the rule of thumb is that people can survive three minutes without oxygen, three days without water and three weeks without food.

It's the sort of thing I do when we holiday in Greece, but I will always tell my wife where I'm going, have my phone with me, and a 'find my phone' app on the tablet in the hotel room. I also wouldn't go up hills in that heat
I'll be surprised if he's on the land somewhere. With no tree cover he should be easy to spot, but even if he found cover he'd be sussed enough to leave a jacket or the brolly in easy view of searchers.

I wonder how long media interest will continue if he's not found. He doesn't have the tabloid appeal of an 'innocent' little blonde white girl but a mystery is an easier sell than endless election coverage.

Reports that he’s been found dead at the bottom of a cliff.
Poor man, I hope it was quick.

Re: Michael Mosley
He had said he wasn’t feeling well, and given he’s diabetic it must be possible he fell unconscious before falling down the cliff. For his sake I hope so.

We may not know, it depends how much of the coroner's report is released.Grumble wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 9:44 am He had said he wasn’t feeling well, and given he’s diabetic it must be possible he fell unconscious before falling down the cliff. For his sake I hope so.

Re: Michael Mosley
Looks like that wasn't so accurate, and he was found on a rocky slope away from the sea. The person who found him assumed that Mosley had fainted. If that happened it could have been caused by a combination of dehydration and overheating. He may also have suffered a head injury if he fell to the ground.Woodchopper wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 8:10 am Reports that he’s been found dead at the bottom of a cliff.

The person who found him after a few days couldn't have been accurate, it will take a coroner.Woodchopper wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 12:42 pmLooks like that wasn't so accurate, and he was found on a rocky slope away from the sea. Yes, of course we don't have a diagnosis. It does suggest that there wasn't an obvious sign of another cause of death.Tessa K wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 3:09 pmThe person who found him after a few days couldn't have been accurate, it will take a coroner.Woodchopper wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 12:42 pmLooks like that wasn't so accurate, and he was found on a rocky slope away from the sea. It is clear from his watch and clothes that it is Dr Mosley,” a police spokesperson, Konstantina Dimoglou, said. A police source told BBC News the deceased had been dead “for a number of days”.Woodchopper wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 4:57 pmYes, and from the Guardian:Tessa K wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 3:59 pmYes, no obvious knife or gun wounds maybe.Woodchopper wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 3:29 pm

If that's how they identified him it sounds like animals or birds got to him.

Possibly, but the corpse might not have been so recognisable anyway. After four to five days in the heat putrefaction may have set in.Tessa K wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 5:30 pmIt is clear from his watch and clothes that it is Dr Mosley,” a police spokesperson, Konstantina Dimoglou, said. We've been binge watching Death in Paradise recently.. I was half expecting them to announce it was actually a murder, and the few people in their party all had unbreakable alibis...

Natural causes. More details to come. I guess they have to establish un/natural causes first in case they need to start a murder investigation.

It looks like a beach cafe CCTV caught his final few minutes as be tried to descend to the beach but he seems to have collapsed behind a wall.Tessa K wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2024 3:16 pm Natural causes.
