Secondly, the fetishisation of personal freedoms continues unabated, with a Kansas newspaper featuring a cartoon likening the governor's mask-wearing order to being forced onto holocaust train transport. FFS.

Just to add to the fun in the US - it's currently forecast to be a very active hurricane season. They've just got the earliest ever "F"-named storm - and in July instead of September as it is on average... if they do get some nasty hurricanes then attempting to deal them on top of COVID is going to prove very difficult.

Of the many things that jumped out was that

In FL, median age of new cases fell from 65 in March to 21 last week

which is....quite a fall and will be interesting to see if anything similar happens here in the UK.

Hmmm, seems his own figures don't back him up. It went down to 34 on 26 June (if that counts as "last week"). Still a fall mind, but seems a bit more plausible.

And the states that are typically at risk of hurricanes aren't doing very much to combat the covids, or seem to have stopped trying at least.

Looks bad. Suggests that they’re testing a lot of people who are symptomatic rather than finding more cases because of mass testing in the population.

Back over 1000 deaths today (usually one of the lower non-weekend affected days). Just as Trump goes back on air to say how well he's doing.

Has someone finally got through to him? I suspect they just related it to polling figures to get him to change tack...
