False Hope? Alternative Cancer Cures

Post by Fishnut »

I was alerted to this documentary by the latest episode of Skeptics with a K. I highly recommend watching/listening to both. One thing the podcast discusses is the toothlessness of the ASA and how even repeated complaints about false claims in adverts don't lead to anything other than those complaints being upheld and the ads being taken down, only to be replaced by new, similar ads. It's playing whack-a-mole without any bigger investigations being triggered. It feels like something that really needs addressing, though I wish I knew how.
it's okay to say "I don't know"

It was heartbreaking to watch. I was alerted to it by Orac.
But why is this sort of journalism relegated to BBC 3?
Time for a big fat one.
