Damn, I miss out on a pardon again.

The joke pardons seem to outweigh the disgraceful pardons.

Great how Trump supporters were defrauded by Bannon, he gets his pardon thanks to his kompromat on Trump, and those defrauded idiots will carry on loving the pair of them.

The pardon to notice is Paul Erickson. It's been successfully hidden by the joke pardons. The BBC hasn't even noticed.

For those who can't keep up with the Trump criminals, Erickson is the NRA guy caught up with Maria Butina, our favourite Russian spy. They tried to set up channels to Russia. Erickson was actually jailed for unrelated fraud found when they trawled through his criminal affairs.

Sad for Swowdon and Assange, waking up to discover they're not on the list. Putin is the one who decided to ignore their plight.

Is his pardon blanket, or specific to the crime he was jailed for?

(ETA: this question applies to most of the pardons, btw)

The reasoning for the pardon is hilarious
twitter wrote:Trump pardons the boyfriend of convicted Russian “gun activist” Maria Butina: “This pardon helps right the wrongs of what has been revealed to be perhaps the greatest witch hunt in American history.“
Right Donald, so the complicit boyfriend of the woman accused of being a Russian spy, was traded as a spy, lauded in Russia as a spy and got modelling & TV work when back in Russia playing on the fact she was a spy is caught up in a witch hunt against you? Coz Russia...

One day that kompromat that Putin has on Trump is going to come out. Sadly, as I suspect Trump will continue to have a use as a destabilising influence, Putin will keep hold of it for a little longer.

Since Bannon hasn't been tried yet, there's probably not much protection from double jeopardy laws over state trials for the same fraud.

One should not be surprised, but it is remarkable how many people who worked on Trump's 2016 campaign have required a pardon after being charged or convicted of fraud.

According to Twitter, Trump has been banned permanently. Facebook ban was only until after the end of his term, but reports are they have no current plans to reverse the ban at present. YouTube ban was for 7 days, due to lift today, but reports are it has been extended for a further 7 days at least.

As I wrote in some other place, Donald Trump didn't drain the swamp, he just brought in bigger alligators.

On that note, one of Trump's final acts has been to rescind his executive order barring his political appointees from lobbying for n years after Federal employment.

Which was basically the only action he took to actually drain the swamp.

Although I hope Joe Exotic’s lawyers got their money back for the limo they hired to pick him up from prison, so sure they were that he’d be included.

Coincidentally - at 1:08 am this morning (their time) the White House released a directive Trump had signed on Tuesday that rescinded the sole action he'd taken that could have been seen to have anything to do with "draining the swamp" - namely, forbidding political appointees from ever acting as foreign lobbyists or lobbying a federal agency for five years after leaving office.

It had lots of loopholes, but it was the one thing that could be said to be doing what he'd said he'd do.

Now the grifting is back on. It doesn't half show how venal and petty minded he is. He'd rather ensure that he can grift and can point to others that their ability to do the same was a gift from him, than leave some kind of legacy on a political goal.

Is he actually going to get his send-off, 21-gun salute etc?

Or is it more of:

Aide, "yes Donald, of course Donald - just round that corner... off you go..."

Trump, "hey, there's no one here!"

I read that Trump will be in Florida later today, wrestling alligators. Maybe not that last bit.

In a surprising move, he's getting into environmental activism and is looking at providing activism education instead.
His chance to Train the Swampy.
