It's simple. It's the same street but on different nights, everyone happens to be standing in the same place because of social distancing and wearing the same clothing because being locked down has most people essentially living in their own filth by now.

...and they wonder why some of us want to see the press brought properly into line on this kind of blatant lying.

It's fine, I'm pretty sure fabricating spontaneous displays of support and love for the Great Leader is a perfectly normal hallmark of a free press and vigorous democracy.

I hope you don't mind that I posted this to Twitter and involved the amazing forensic skills of Elisabeth Bik, not that they were really needed here. See https://twitter.com/sTeamTraen/status/1 ... 39681?s=20 and previous tweets in the thread. I wasn't sure whether or how to credit you.

Which brings me to another point. If the queen or Prince Philip kick the bucket, will they be buried quietly or kept on ice waiting for better times?
I imagine operation London bridge is being rapidly updates

I see The Times is making the bold, risky, cutting-edge, opinion-leading statements that it's famous for. Their subscribers definitely couldn't have worked out by themselves that someone who is in ICU with COVID-19 will be dead or recovered within the next two weeks.

(When I saw the subject line of the e-mail that brought me this, I actually thought they meant his political survival and it was just an unfortunate choice of words.)

Yes I'm sure Johnson was just as seriously ill as an average covid-related admission.

He's also more likely to ignore doctors recommendations and keep working so he can look strong, resilient and brave, until genuinely scared he's going to die.

Did he actually keep working, though, or did he just largely pretend to keep working?

He may very well have spent many years largely pretending to keep working, so he could probably keep that workrate up while quite unwell.

I very much suspect the latter. It's quite odd to see so many people suddenly (a) believing Boris Johnson's government (b) about Johnson's famously pisspoor work ethic.

Not Boris. Boris is a ditch man - not a well man. Definitely not a well man as he's in hospital.

Oh wait, they only cherry-pick the easy stuff and leave the difficult stuff to the NHS.
It's one of those things that he cannot possibly do right. If he went to a private hospital he'd be condemned for showing he thinks the NHS is not good enough.

If you learn understand English, as well as just read it, you'll realise that sciolus' post was a criticism of the way private hospitals work. the clue was in the sentence "Oh wait, they only cherry-pick the easy stuff and leave the difficult stuff to the NHS."

(with the caveat that the Italian press may have exaggerated this from "also there is an Italian specialist somewhere in the same hospital")

So THE consultant taking care of Johnson is a virologist? Now if I was in Johnson's position - while I might like them to talk to a virologist - I think I'd prefer having my breathing looked after by an intensive care & anaesthetics consultant.

Or do staff shortages mean we now have virologists responsible for intubating patients?

Were they confused about which end to fit the ventilator to?

Another use case for that science toilet you posted about.
hahaha
Wait I had that wrong it turns out that the CPAP machine blows air in one end and the political vacuum sucks it out the other.

He hasn't got to that stage of the party where you think it is a good idea to try a cocktail of Crème de Menthe and Advocaat after raiding the back of the sadly depleted drinks cabinet.

I think it's pretty telling that yesterday it was announced that Boris was merely "engaging" with staff - and apparently Rishi Sunak has said today that he is now “sitting up in bed” and “engaging positively” with medics.

If they had mean talking, and been able to say talking, they would have said talking.

"Engaging" with staff is what you might do when you're receiving some sort of ventilatory support than means you cannot talk (e.g. CPAP or intubation). E.g. squeezing someone's hand in response to something.

They did insist he hadn't been intubated (at which point he would probably also be sedated and maybe pr0n'd proned) but did say oxygen so yeah I'm guessing a CPAP mask or something.

The Guardian asked around about that thing about breathing exercises and Saira Ghafur, an honorary respiratory consultant at St Mary’s hospital in London, says:
Lying continuously on your back is not ideal. “If you can sit and take deep breaths in and out, that will help any respiratory condition – you’re taking in a bigger lungful of air and that will help remove any mucus.” However, she adds that there is no evidence that this will improve your recovery.
... so sitting up might actually be a thing, considered better for him than lying down.

I assume he's in intensive care for the extra monitoring equipment rather than the ventilator or ECMO machine.
