From the Guardian:
Earlier she met with the chair of the 1922 Committee, Sir Graham Brady, where they “agreed that there will be a leadership election to be completed within the next week”.
So they're not going to ask the party members to vote. Probably as they'd vote for Johnson.
They've gone from asking the country who should be PM, to asking the party (which includes people not eligible to vote in the UK), to asking a few hundred politicians.
A big win for democracy and the UK's flexible constitution.

Apparently now "consulting" the membership again

It's being reported that Braverman and Badenoch will be standing.
The right-wing free-market headbangers haven't given up yet.

Truss clearly just didn't believe hard enough.
Don't worry, I'm sure when Braverman stands up to announce her unfunded tax cuts for the rich paid for by colossal borrowing and burning down the last few public libraries in the country the markets will react COMPLETELY different this time.
The Wokerati mightn't like it but the problem with the UK over the last 12 years is obviously that we weren't sh.tting enough into our drinking water and I believe the public will be happy to get on board with that.

Guardian live feed reporting that Boris will stand

If Braverman or Badenoch do get it, I hope the Star pop down to Tesco to get a new lettuce.
They could call it "Lettuce B" and play Beatles music as a backing soundtrack to the Livestream.

There's also reports that the members will get to vote, so I guess it's back to Boris.

Is the investigation into Boris's misconduct still going on?

Yes, so for the lulz they should announce him as the new PM just in time for the Standards Committee to expel him from Parliament causing the triggering of a recall by-election which he'd lose.
By that that point the National Anthem should have been changed to Yakety-Sax by acclamation!

Surely - surely - the MPs aren't such a big load of fuckwits that they'd let Boris Johnson onto the voting slip?
What am I thinking? Of course they are.

It also sounds like that there'll be an online poll to give members their say. Which I'm sure will be ever so secure, as no foreign countries have any interest in f.cking up the UK's political system.
Also, Shetland is cut off from internet communications right now, as its undersea cable broke overnight.

That's what the Shetlanders want you to think, the reality is they've finally given up on the UK and have began rowing their islands to Norway to put as much distance between us as possible.

Their other cable to the Faroe Islands broke last week.

It that point when they go - those rules we had for the last 20 years gave us really crap outcomes. So now we'll write some new ones, and they'll give us a new leader just a week from now. Always a great idea inventing a new system in a hurry.
But it is nice that they have just insulted their party membership by pointing out so obviously to them that they are not fit to choose the leader of the party.
It was hilarious listening to Lord Frost on Radio 4 news saying that there was nothing wrong with Truss's basic idea, it was just the execution of it was a bit off. I have two observations:
- If you are going to go for a lower tax and smaller public sector type of economy, you'd better first decide first which parts of the public sector you can get rid of, to make sure that we really don't need them, and that you have a politically feasible path for getting rid of them, or moving them into the private sector and so funding them directly from other sources (ie get people to pay for them direct). And establish that before you transfer the saving into a tax reduction.
- Truss's basic premise that Britain is a high tax economy is just false. At least in comparison to peers. You can find some well developed economies - such as Switzerland - that at first glance seem to have lower rates of tax. But that is they pay for health service through a compulsory insurance scheme that increases their effective tax as a proportion of gdp by 11%. When you add in the extra health service charges that actually exist in most of our peer nations, it becomes apparent that we are actually one of the lowest tax countries of our peers. Indeed, making that adjustment for the US and they aren't so different either.

It sounds like the 1922 Committee don't have the ability to change rule about offering 2 candidates to the wider membership in time to choose a leader before next Friday. So the only way they can avoid having 2 candidates to put to the membership is if there are not 2 candidates offering themselves, like when Andrea Leadsom dropped out when she was the only remaining candidate against Theresa May, or when no one stood against Michael Howard.
But what does seem to change with every leadership election is the rules for the initial run-off process among the MPs to select the 2 to put to the membership. So maybe they can adjust that quickly to limit the risk that there is more than 1 candidate. For example, maybe saying you can only stand if you get signed support from a sufficiently large number of MPs that only, say, Sunak could achieve it.
Because, with *unt standing aside, I assume this is going to turn into a coronation of Sunak.

At least she was in power longer than Lady Jane Grey and with only a symbolic beheading at the end. That should comfort her.

It'll be interesting to see then how they keep Boris out of the fray.

No, doesn't work. Because the MPs are hopelessly split.
Even Sunak can't command a big enough voting block in round 1 to get past a large initial limit. He only got 24.6% in round 1 last time. Took till round 5 to get over 33.333%. Only ever had 42% at his peak.
The mad Boris bunch will get quite a high total. The mad Braverman bunch will get another chunk. Moribund fancies her chances. Badenoch will try. And someone from the list of narcissistic losers will try: Javid, Shapps, Zahawi, Tugendhat.
It's all very well saying "hey guys, let's all coalesce around one leading candidate" but nobody will listen. If you say "Got to have 25% support to make round one" then possibly even Sunak wouldn't make it, and almost certainly nobody else will. You can't coronationalise someone with only 25% support.
Either there's a runaway trend over the weekend towards Sunak, or it's back to being a f.cking mess. There's no sign of a runaway trend at the moment.
