You may remember an issue at Batley Grammar School in 2021 where an RE teacher had to go into hiding because of accusations of blasphemy.
I went to BGS till 1997 when it was still an independent school and dad taught there. It’s changed a lot since then.
I’d missed this particular report when it came out in March but James Bloodworth posted it yesterday. It introduces the concept of “Freedom Restricting Harassment” and has a whole section in it about the Batley Grammar School blasphemy debacle.
Reading it you realise the extent to which the RE teacher was failed by pretty much everyone involved - the school, the local council, the MP, the police. All to appease unelected backwards, regressive religious “community leaders” who didn’t even have any kids at the school. Why do we pay so much attention to people like this?
It’s worth a read to see the extent to which the whole situation was mismanaged from the start.
