Re: Trump 2.0
The CIA sent a list of all their staff hired in the last two years in an "unclassified" email to the White House. Suggestions that if China etc. get hold of the list then it's a disaster for US intelligence. I'm guessing someone pressured them into a rush job.

Gotta move fast and break things dawg...
Wonder how long it will take for the penny to drop and for Trump to realize that start-up culture isn't suited for government.

This resignation of a DOGE operative because of his eugenics opinions surprises me as I thought it would get him a promotion

They won’t be held to account in the USA, why do you think they would let anyone hold them or their allies to account.

I don't understand how this sort of unpleasantness could have got past the extensive security vetting they went through.Stranger Mouse wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 9:36 amThis resignation of a DOGE operative because of his eugenics opinions surprises me as I thought it would get him a promotion

I mean, Trump granted himself a magic wand and tapped Musk with it, giving Musk instant security clearance, and then Musk in turn vouched for the Muskrats. It seems like a foolproof vetting procedure, so what went wrong?

It turns out that security clearances exist for a reason.

The thought of Elon applying his software development ethos to ATC is a trifle worrying. I don't think I'll be flying to the US any time soon

To be fair, US ATC systems belong in a museum. Although I entirely agree that "fail fast" would be a worrying strategy for replacing themphilbo wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 6:05 pm...not to mention air traffic controlTopBadger wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 12:04 pm Gotta move fast and break things dawg...

It might be, but anyone who lurks at PPRune will know that incidents involving the type that crashed in Alaska can happen for reasons that have nothing to do with ATC, same for medical flightsStranger Mouse wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 11:43 amI believe this is the third fatal plane crash since the inauguration.bolo wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:04 pmTo be fair, US ATC systems belong in a museum. The Potomac midair is an ATC systems / procedures issue though, and lots of (safer) procedures that are used elsewhere aren't used because of the higher air traffic density in the US, especially general aviation

It does seem that most of his outlandish gibberings have been halted by judges with more sense than a small piece of cheese.
It first was a rumour dismissed as a lie, but then came the evidence none could deny:

I'm more amused than surprised that another scandalous tale has emerged regarding one of Musk's army of artful dodgers. It is alleged one was previously fired from an internship at a cybersecurity firm for leaking company secrets.

That's exactly the sort of person you want to grant admin rights to the machinery of national government and set them loose. Said nobody, obviously. Except Musk who would appear to be responsible for hiring him and granting him the keys to the kingdom after whatever lack of vetting he deemed necessary.
I'm watching the absence of headline news (so far) about this like a lit firework which unexpectedly hasn't done anything.

Yes, lots of people go around saying that they want to smash the state. Trump and Musk are trying it, or at least bits of it.
Been reading Robert Harris’ Cicero trilogy. Striking parallels in terms of an alliance between plutocrats and plebeians against the middle. Looking at the MAGAists rejoice at the technocrats in USAID getting fired emphasies the class war motivations.
